Message from Ron Hicks
Deputy Minister of Executive Council
Welcome to the Alberta Public Service Vision and Values Website!
Every member of our public service contributes to delivering high-quality programs and services to individuals and families living in our province and to supporting government in achieving its goals in areas that are important to Albertans.
Sometimes, we get so immersed in our work that we forget to reflect on the importance of having a shared understanding of where we are headed, what we do, and how we do it - our vision and values.
Staff Events
"Proudly Working Together"
In September and October 2007, deputy ministers hosted a series of staff events in seven communities across Alberta. These events were an opportunity to come together as one public service to focus on how we work and what we are striving to achieve through living our public service vision and values tagline of “proudly working together.”
The events included a special video presentation featuring Alberta Public Service employees from across the province speaking in their own words about what it means to “proudly work together.” We all have a role in bringing our vision and values to life and this was an opportunity to celebrate our achievements and build on our successes.
These events were also an opportunity to learn about the APS Workforce Plan. Deputy ministers spoke of the importance of the workforce plan in ensuring that we are able to find talented workers in a highly competitive labour market and that our current employees have the supports and resources they need to continue doing their best work for and on behalf of Albertans.
Making sure you know what the government as your employer is doing to support you in excelling at work is key to making our already strong public service even stronger.
Thank you to all participants for making this year’s “Proudly Working Together” Staff Events a success.
