Are you a new supervisor in the APS?  An employee's experience in the APS can greatly depend on the experience that they have with their supervisor.  To help you to excel as a supervisor in the APS, there are a number of specific resources that outline your role, expectations and tools and resources for you to be successful:

Supervisor Certificate Program

  • There are 8 courses offered through the GOA Learning Centre that cover topics ranging from employee relations to supporting employee performance. This program has been developed to enhance your skills and abilities as a supervisor or aspiring supervisor in the APS.

  • This guidebook offers information for you to find the best fit for your team and gain a better understanding of staffing policies and practices when recruiting for your team.

Performance / Learning and Development Conversation Resources

  • The Performance/Learning and Development conversation can occur at any time throughout the year between a supervisor and employee.  As a supervisor, these conversations are a responsibility of your role and will provide some of the greatest support to the employee's success.
